রিদওয়ান একটি bar chart দেখে ১৮টি number লিখল। লেখা লম্বা হলো, কিন্তু band উঠল না। কারণ examiner শুধু data copy চান না; examiner দেখতে চান আপনি বড় picture ধরেছেন কি না। তাই Task 1-এর প্রথম skill হলো select: কোন তথ্য লিখবেন, কোনটা বাদ দেবেন।
Academic Task 1 আসলে কী
Academic Task 1-এ আপনাকে visual information নিজের ভাষায় describe করতে হয়। visual হতে পারে graph, table, chart, map, plan বা process diagram. কমপক্ষে ১৫০ শব্দ লিখবেন এবং প্রায় ২০ মিনিট রাখবেন। এখানে personal opinion দেওয়া যাবে না।

নিরাপদ structure
চার paragraph যথেষ্ট। বেশি paragraph করলে report ভেঙে যায়, কম paragraph করলে overview হারিয়ে যায়।
- Introduction: question paraphrase.
- Overview: সবচেয়ে বড় trend/change/stage.
- Body 1: প্রথম group of details.
- Body 2: দ্বিতীয় group of details.
Overview কেন সবচেয়ে জরুরি
Overview হলো report-এর চোখ। chart-এর বড় picture এক বা দুই sentence-এ বলবেন। যেমন: “Overall, online enrolment increased in all courses, with Writing showing the sharpest rise after 2020.”
Overview-তে exact সব number দেবেন না। Overview-তে বড় trend, contrast, বা process-এর total stages বলুন। detail paragraph-এ number দিন।
২০ মিনিটের সময় ভাগ
- ২ মিনিট: visual বুঝুন এবং key features mark করুন।
- ৩ মিনিট: overview ও body grouping ঠিক করুন।
- ১২ মিনিট: report লিখুন।
- ৩ মিনিট: word count, grammar, spelling check করুন।
Line graph-এ তিনটি course ২০১৫-২০২৫ পর্যন্ত দেখানো হয়েছে। Writing দ্রুত বেড়েছে, Listening ধীরে বেড়েছে, Speaking প্রায় একই আছে। ভালো overview কোনটি?
দ্বিতীয়টি ভালো, কারণ এটি বড় picture বলে। প্রথমটি detail, তৃতীয়টি opinion.
ক্লাসে আমি যেভাবে Task 1 শেখাই
Academic Task 1-এ অনেক student ভুল করে essay-এর মতো ব্যাখ্যা দিতে শুরু করে। কিন্তু এখানে আপনার কাজ হলো data report করা। আপনি কেন trend ঘটেছে তা explain করবেন না; শুধু chart/map/process-এ কী দেখা যাচ্ছে তা পরিষ্কারভাবে বলবেন।

Overview লেখার সহজ formula
Overview হলো পুরো report-এর সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অংশ। এখানে কোনো exact number না দিলেও চলে; বরং বড় picture দিতে হয়। নিরাপদ formula হলো:
- সবচেয়ে বড় trend বা change বলুন।
- সবচেয়ে noticeable comparison বলুন।
- Map/process হলে main change বা number of stages বলুন।
Overall, the chart shows many changes in all categories.
Overall, online sales rose throughout the period, while store sales declined after the middle of the decade.
ছোট sample structure
Introduction: The chart compares the percentage of people using three transport methods between 2010 and 2020.
Overview: Overall, car use remained the most common method, while cycling became more popular. Bus use, by contrast, declined slightly.
Body 1: In 2010, around 55% of people used cars, compared with about 25% who used buses and 10% who cycled.
Body 2: By 2020, car use had changed only slightly, but cycling had doubled to roughly 20%. Bus use fell to just under 20%.

Overview-এ কি number দিতে হবে?
না, সাধারণত overview-এ exact number না দিলেও চলে। এখানে বড় trend, major comparison বা main change দেখানো বেশি জরুরি।
Task 1-এ opinion দেওয়া যাবে?
না। Task 1 একটি report. আপনি data বা visual information describe করবেন; কারণ, মতামত বা prediction দেবেন না।
Body paragraph কীভাবে ভাগ করব?
Similar trend, high/low group, অথবা before/after change অনুযায়ী group করুন। এলোমেলোভাবে number লিখবেন না।
IELTS Writing Academic Task 1 overview-এ band বাড়ানোর practical rule
Writing-এ অনেক student grammar ঠিক করতে গিয়ে main task ভুলে যায়। Examiner প্রথমে দেখেন আপনি প্রশ্নের কাজ করেছেন কি না, idea logically সাজিয়েছেন কি না, এবং language naturally control করতে পেরেছেন কি না। তাই প্রতিটি answer লিখার আগে ৩ মিনিট plan করুন। এই ৩ মিনিটই অনেক সময় ৩০ মিনিটের ভুল বাঁচায়।
একটি ছোট গল্প
আরিফ complex sentence লিখতে পারত, কিন্তু Task 2-তে question-এর দুই অংশ cover করত না। আমরা তাকে fancy word কমিয়ে “question checklist” দিলাম। প্রথম line-এ position, body paragraph-এ clear reason, শেষে direct conclusion—এই simple discipline-ই তার writing stable করল।

শেষবার official information check করা হয়েছে: ২৭ জুন ২০২৬. Fee, centre availability, visa rule, university requirement এবং accepted-test list সময়ের সাথে বদলাতে পারে। Booking বা application করার আগে official page আবার মিলিয়ে নিন।
